SHARED ENERGIES: MOMENTUM
WHERE:
Main Gallery at the Inverness County Centre for the Arts in Inverness, Nova Scotia
WHEN:
Exhibition from August 3rd to September 2nd, 2018
(Artist Residency from July 8th to August 2nd, 2018)
Shared Energies: Momentum was the culmination of all the drawings we created over the last four years. This exhibit differed from previous shows as the collection was much more colourful and exploratory in terms of aesthetic depth. We chose the title “Momentum” to symbolize the feeling of forward motion in time, space and the body. This sense of constant change is also present in our work.
During the residency, we spent a total of 150 working hours in the artist studio finishing two new 70 x 45 inch drawings, plus 33 medium to small sized drawings. Read more about the residency here.
SHARED ENERGIES: CELLS, STARS AND THE FLUIDITY BETWEEN
WHERE:
Taplin Gallery at the Arts Council of Princeton in Princeton, NJ
WHEN:
Exhibition from May 6th – June 10th, 2017
(Artist Residency from April 6th – May 6th, 2017)
“Shared Energies: Cells, Stars and the Fluidity Between” included a curated selection of drawings from the residency in Princeton and Inverness, as well as smaller works that we’ve previously mailed back and forth. We presented a total of 40 works, many of which went to new homes.
What was special about the residency leading up to this exhibition, was the amount of interaction we had with the public. We were using the gallery as our studio space, which had a large window where passerby’s could peer in to see us working. Many locals stopped in throughout our time there to discuss the progression of the project. You can read more about the residency here.
SHARED ENERGIES: CELLS, STARS AND THE FLUIDITY BETWEEN
WHERE:
Hallway Gallery at the Inverness County Centre for the Arts in Inverness, Nova Scotia
WHEN:
June 4th – June 28th, 2016
(Artist Residency from May 28th – June 4th, 2016)
The first display of the Shared Energies project was held at the Hallway Gallery at the ICCA, following our first residency. At that point, we had created 20 small works through mailing them back and forth with each other. During the residency itself, we finished 2 new large works. These two large drawings combined with the 20 small works are what we exhibited. Additionally, as it was early days for our project, we curated a selection of our individual works and juxtaposed them beside each other, to fill the rest of the space.
This was our first meeting in the same space for a residency and it was our time here that made us realize the importance of meeting annually to continue this project. To read more about the residency, click here.
